Some 200 people form all over Ireland attended book launch at the Long Man, Kilfane which will be a reference for historians for many a year to come. The book is "Kilkenny: the struggle for the land 1850-1882 was written by Dr. Walter Walsh and contains in excess of 500 pages of information on the land struggle in his native Kilkenny. Wally as we all know him locally here was a colleague of mine for many a year and since he retired from the Garda Siochana back in 2002 like any dark horse , he kept his head down and followed an academic career in Maynooth and Kilkenny. Many long hours over that period he dedicated to this book which even at a glance is a minefield of information about an area we all are privilleged to live in.
