Photographs of Distinction, Michael OByrne

Congratulations to Susan Meehan, Portarlington and Victor Rothwell, Castlecomer who got married on New Years Eve, a very cold but dry day in St. Mary's Church, Castlceomer. There are records of a ancient church on this site as far back as 1374. The present church was built on the site at the same time as Castlecomer by Sir Christopher Wandesford. It was destroyed in the 1798 rebellion, and later rebuilt. Some beautiful singing at this wedding which took under the direction of Canon Thomas Sherlock, a most courteous and helpful clergyman to this photographer. As we left the heat of the church for Kilkenny one could feel the bracing chill in the air but there was joy also and appreciation to all who assisted in the group photograph.

Many thanks to Caroline and Rosanna the bridesmaids, to John and Mervyn and also to page boy Eoin and flower girl Niamh. If you have enjoyed viewing these photographs please click here and leave a comment or greeting on my guestbook. Susan and Victor will also be able to read your messages when they are on holiday in a country many miles from Ireland, where the animals roam unhindered in peace. This beautiful country like our own had its fair share of political scandals over elections being rigged.
