Photographs of Distinction, Michael O’Byrne

On a beautiful day, 30th. June, 2004, headed off from Thomastown, through Callan towards the village of Kilcash, followed some signed for about a mile and parked my car. Took off towards Slievenamon (the Hill of Women) took me 1hr. 45 minutes to get to the top and was it worthwhile? Yes brought a pair of binoculars with me and I could see Thomastown and the viaduct standing out, Kilkenny, Callan, Carrick and Clonmel. On the top you can rest from the wind in the shade of the large cairn on the summit which is 2368 feet high (350 lower than Mount Leinster)
