Photographs of Distinction, Michael OByrne

Back

On Friday 4th. Oct. and Saturday, 5th. October at Tullamore Court hotel the Irish Association of Nurses in Oncology held theire 20th. Annual Conference. Now and then I meet a group of people who really impress me and this is one of those cases. Please take time to allow the photographs to load and pay particular attention to the last photograph of Sister Abbey Lynch from Mercy Hospital, Cork. I can tell you that this Killarney sister is one in a million as are her staff in St. Teresa's Ward in that hospital. Scroll down to see complete selection.

The oncology nurses are really a group apart...one never can appreciate their dedication and attention to detail...they are at the coalface of nursing dealing with patients who are facing death. I really enjoyed the lecture by Barry Quinn particularly his story of the old man in St. Charles Ward.. Brilliant. Thanks to Paula, Mary and Catherine, it was a pleasure to have dinner with you in Tullamore. Also to Eileen Furlong President as you can see from one of the photographs....delivery is one of her stronger attributes. Thanks to Mona O'Brien from from Cork University Hospital but I will never forget what a pleasure it was to meet Abbey again at this conference and to relive the times (sad and desperate as they were) we met before in St. Theresa's Ward. What a brilliant bunch of people these nurses are. Click here and do add a comment on my guestbook.
