Slides or tranparencies on a DVD
Photographs of Distinction, Michael O’Byrne

Back Home

Remember back from the late 60's up to the 1980's we were quite familiar with the Kodakchrome box. Simon and Garfunkel even had a hit record singing the praises of the film. We used to send off our film to Kodak in England and two weeks or so later back would come the parcel with 20-36 slides in a plastic box. What a joy it used to be loading them up on the projector and seeing the enlarged images up on a screen or maybe a white wall!

Times do move on and in this digital age slides are just a memory or maybe not. Have you like many people a box of these old slides tucked away in some corner, getting damp perhaps and not stored in an ideal location? Projector has long since been dumped or does not now work? Briefly, slides and negatives will fade. They will fade faster if they are hot and/or humid. You want your images to be in a room that is air-conditioned in the summer. You want them to be surrounded by polyethylene or polypropylene or acid-free paper. You want everything encased in a steel cabinet or acid-free paper box. Not ideal but if they are digitally stored then you have a chance to keep them safe for years to come in premium condition. Often wished you could bring them out again and relive some old memories of perhaps days gone bye or friends and relations that have gone and past on to "a better place"? Would you like those slides brought back to "life" on a DVD scanned in at a high resolution and viewed on your TV with some backing music of your choice?

Michael O'Byrne Photography has some suggestions that may please you. You can relive some happy moments in time when friends and relations call or on your own and relish in some nostalgia. How often have you seen negatives stick together when not stored in a dry place? Most slides over 20 years have deteriorated somewhat and now have a blue cast on them, I will colour correct them. A suggestion is to sort out your slides into categories and you then can access on the DVD only that category, if that is your wish. You will also receive a CD with the images therein. Send me an   email for further details or better still call 056-7724317. Would'nt it make an ideal and surprising Christmas gift for someone special in your family?
