Kilree Cross I
This is a beautiful cross of sandstone in memory of a High King of Ireland, Niall Caille, who was drowned in Callan in 844 A.D. in the Kings River. His body was found in Kells. The Round Tower was used as a hiding place for manuscripts and sacred vessels by the monks during Viking raids.
