For more years than I can remember I have enjoyed the music of Johnny McEvoy, a singer who first came to attention with Muirsheen Durkan and has recorded some songs that I really love one being John Williams. Its a story of a fellow leaving Cobh or Queenstown as it was known then on the Titanic with his bride to start a new life in U.S. The song is written from the standpoint of a local who is full of envy not being able to go as well. A really beautiful song and one that I will always remember. Lovely to meet him during a visit to Thomastown and many more years on the road to you Johnny you have brought joy to many a person.
