Did you ever wonder where that €30,000 piece of steel you call a car that you have out in the garage came from? Well I am going to let you into the secret. First of all I saw this barge go past with all rusted steel. I had the pleasure of getting the inside track on where that piece of tin comes from. Well it was an exciting location the pier of a steel works in Zalcate in Holland on the canal to Gent to see some men who know their job loading a large ship called in Inge. Each roll is apporx 40 tons and there are 4,000 tons on the Inge which is 180 meters long. Imagine pushing 400 lorries along a river!! These men loading know their job and one fellow has a red batton guiding the crane driver and another looking after the essential paperwork.

The Inge trades between Holland and Basel in Switzerland and I was on the ship as far as Dordrect. Below you see some photographs of the ship from the bridge in Dordrect and if you see the cars on board it gives you an idea of its size. Greetings again to the Linhouts and their crew for a lovely few days. One picture below was taken around 7.a.m. in the morning as we past a group of wind turbines. Click here let me know you have called and do add a comment on my guestbook.
