Now and then I attend a function which when you leave you really feel proud to be Irish but more so proud to live in a County that has shown the rest of the country how it should be done. This was the case when I photographed the launch of Kilkenny City GAA clubs policy on healthy living though Gaelic Games. Through an initiative launched by John Leahy from HSE, Gda Agnes Reddy and with three Kilkenny City clubs they have brought out a booklet which is very informative about drugs and alchohol. It sets out policy to be followed if one falls down so to speak. I found the speech by Nicky Brennan President of the GAA and joy to listen to, in particular his reference to Aislinn Adolescent Addiction Treatment Centre in Ballyragget. Years ago when this was first muted there was an outcry by locals, now it is admired and appreciated by many. We just do not know what events can await us round the next corner. Pictured below are Inspector Pat O'Connor and chairman John Leahy from HSE and below them are the organising committee.. Click here and leave a comment, it would be appreciated.
