Arriving into Capetown is a sight to behold with Table Mountain (1000m) glistening over the city and on its left are Signal Hill and Lions Head. Whales can be seen and dolphins hopping round the ship and curious penguins as well. It is a sight that even though I was there a few years ago can go along with George Hooke and agree it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. As it was just too warm to take the cable car what a journey it is to Camps Bay and Clifden as you see below areas and locations where a person could easily spent the rest of their years hearing the ocean lapping off the shore in peace. After two days there we sail on to Port Elizabeth and this is yet another city I could love. Old colonial houses and a beach with a prom to walk on and enjoy.

Above you see a photograph of two gentlemen taken in Durban...Fr. Leaonard Forristal from Thomastown and on the Right Fr. Seamus O'Reilly from Cavan/Armagh country. Both have ministered out in Africa for many a year. I took this photograph in a Zulu shopping area and one shop had a sign Hurley over it, very appropriate in the case of Fr. Leonard who it must be said is a fan of the "cats" This was one day that will be recalled with joy and happiness as it was a pleasure to be in the company of these two priests.Final stop on the African mainland was Maputo in Mozambique a location where if you don not speak Portuguese you may find it difficult to get around in some quarters. That said the city has some fine buildings including the Town Hall which is pictured below and there are some examples in the Fortress of days gone by and wars fought by the settlers. There is a fine new Church there and it is reputed that behind the older Church, slave traders did the deals and then went in to pray. They were having a party in the Botanical Gardens and there was this group dancing and singing...music like Paul Simon's CD Graceland. took one photograph of a gentleman on the street selling cigarettes. They are quite cheap there. They did'nt hear of Miceal Martin's Smoking Ban yet!!!
